Get Connected with Flytaro SIM Card
Thanks for choosing Flytaro SIM Card. This guide walks you through connecting to the internet after you arrive at your destination.
Setup usually takes under 5 minutes and no manual configuration is needed. If you run into trouble, see the troubleshooting section at the end.
Before You Start
- You have an active data plan on your SIM. If you haven’t topped up yet, see How to Top Up a Data Plan first.
- You’ve arrived in a country covered by your plan. Each plan page lists the countries it covers.
- Your device is unlocked and has a physical SIM slot. Flytaro does not work on carrier-locked phones.
Tip: We recommend inserting the SIM only after you arrive, not during transit. Inserting early can start the plan’s validity period before you’re ready, or cause the SIM to register on the wrong network.
How to Connect
- Turn off Wi-Fi during setup. This prevents your phone from skipping mobile network activation. You can turn Wi-Fi back on once you’re connected.
- Insert the Flytaro SIM card into your phone. If your phone has two SIM slots, Slot 1 usually gives the best compatibility.
- Turn on your phone (or restart it if it was already on).
- Enable Mobile Data and Data Roaming — see the steps for your device below.
- Wait 1–5 minutes for your phone to register with the local network. It should find and connect automatically.
On iPhone
- Open Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data).
- Tap your Flytaro SIM in the SIMs list.
- Turn on Turn On This Line (if not already on).
- Turn on Data Roaming.
- Under Voice & Data, select 4G or LTE, and turn on VoLTE if available.
- Go back to Cellular and set Cellular Data to your Flytaro SIM.
On Android
Exact paths vary by brand, but the general steps are:
- Open Settings → Network & Internet (or Connections / Mobile Network).
- Tap your Flytaro SIM.
- Turn on Mobile Data.
- Turn on Data Roaming.
- Set Preferred Network Type to 4G/LTE (or 5G if available).
Using a Portable Wi-Fi Device
- Insert the Flytaro SIM into the Wi-Fi device.
- Power on the device and wait for it to register with the local network.
- Access the device’s admin settings (see the device manual) and make sure Mobile Data and Data Roaming are both on.
- Connect your phone, laptop, or tablet to the device’s Wi-Fi network.
Flytaro supports connecting multiple devices at once — useful when traveling with family or a team.
If You Have Trouble Connecting
Most users connect on the first try. If something doesn’t work right away, here are the most common fixes — start with #1 (it solves the majority of issues).
1. Restart your device
This fixes the majority of connection issues. Power off completely, wait 10 seconds, then turn back on. Wait 1–5 minutes for the network to register.
2. Re-check your settings
- Mobile Data is on
- Data Roaming is on
- Wi-Fi is off (during setup)
- Preferred network is 4G/LTE or 5G
3. Manually set the APN (some Android phones)
A few Android phones — especially Xiaomi, Redmi, and Huawei — don’t auto-configure the APN correctly. If Mobile Data and Data Roaming are both on but you still have no internet, you may need to add an APN manually.
See How to Set Up APN on Android for step-by-step instructions.
Once you have the APN, go to Settings → Mobile Network → Access Point Names (APN) → New APN on your phone, enter the value, save, and set it as active.
4. Verify your plan is active
Check your plan status in your Flytaro account under My SIMs. If the plan doesn’t appear or shows “No data yet” more than 10 minutes after payment, contact support.
5. Changed countries during your trip?
When you cross borders within a multi-country plan, your phone usually switches networks automatically. If it doesn’t, restart your device — this forces it to search for the new local network.
