How to Top Up Your Flytaro SIM Card
To top up your Flytaro SIM, go to the top-up page, select your destination, choose a data plan, and enter your SIM number at checkout. Your plan is added to your SIM within minutes and starts when you first connect abroad. You can top up before your trip or while you’re already traveling.
Before You Top Up
You’ll need two things:
- Your Flytaro SIM card. The card itself doesn’t need to be inserted into your phone yet.
- Your SIM card number. This is the long digit number printed on the back of your SIM card. You’ll enter it during checkout.
Step 1: Find Your Destination
Go to the SIM Top-up page and find the country you’ll be traveling to. You can:
- Search by country name in the search bar
- Filter by Country or Region using the tabs
Click your destination to open its top-up page.
A note about coverage: Many Flytaro plans are regional — a plan bought from the Austria page, for example, may also cover 23 other European countries. Each plan page lists the exact countries it covers. If you’re visiting multiple countries in one region, a single plan often covers all of them.
Step 2: Choose a Plan
On the destination page, select:
- Validity — how long you want the plan to last (e.g., 7, 15, or 30 days)
- Data — how much data you want (e.g., 5 GB, 10 GB, 20 GB)
Then click Top Up Now.
Step 3: Enter Your SIM Number
A popup will ask for your SIM number. Enter the digits printed on the back of your SIM card.
If you’ve topped up before while logged into your Flytaro account, your saved SIMs will appear below the input field — just click one to auto-fill.
If you see “The SIM number looks incorrect”:
- Double-check the digits on your card — it’s easy to mistake a 0 for an O, or an 8 for a B
- Make sure you’re entering the number for a Flytaro SIM, not your home carrier’s SIM
Once your SIM number is accepted, click Continue to proceed to checkout.
Step 4: Complete Checkout
Enter your billing details and complete payment. You’ll receive an order confirmation email shortly after.
When Does My Plan Start?
This is the most common question we get, and the answer has two parts.
The plan is assigned to your SIM within minutes
After payment, your plan is linked to your SIM card number in our system. This usually happens within a few minutes. You can check it in your Flytaro account — see Managing Your Flytaro SIM Cards for details.
The validity period starts when you first use the plan
For example, if you bought a 15-day / 10 GB plan, the 15 days don’t start counting the moment you pay. They start when:
- Your SIM is inserted in a device, and
- The SIM first connects to a mobile network in a covered country
This means you can safely buy your plan days or weeks before your trip — nothing starts counting until you arrive and use the SIM.
A word of caution
We recommend inserting the SIM only after arriving at your destination. Inserting earlier can:
- Start the validity clock earlier than you planned, if the SIM connects to a covered network in transit
- Cause connection issues when you arrive, as the SIM may get stuck on a transit network
Once you’ve topped up, there’s nothing else you need to do manually. Just insert the SIM when you land, turn on Mobile Data and Data Roaming, and your plan activates automatically on first connection.
Next Step
Once you’ve topped up, see Get Connected with Flytaro SIM Card for instructions on connecting to the network after you arrive.
